Level One has introduced a free development tool called 'The Design Assistant'. The company says that Design Assistants are a compilation of information created to simplify the design of new systems, and greatly help reduce a product's time-to-market. The LXT380 Design Assistant was developed to aid in the design of E1 short-haul interfaces. In a normal design and development flow, engineers are faced with a challenging set of tasks ranging from component selection to software development. In each of these steps, the LXT380 Design Assistant provides tools to accelerate the design cycle. As a platform for these tools, Level One has developed a reference design that has been tested and certified for the applicable telecom and EMC standards. The LXT380 Design Assistant can be found on the Level One website with Design Assistants soon to be released for LXT384 and LXT1000 devices.
