Dual core SBC

6 August 2008 Computer/Embedded Technology

Ampro has announced availability of the ReadyBoard 830 single board computer (SBC) based on Intel's dual core processors and GME945 chipset. The SBC integrates a single- or dual-core processor, RAM, graphics, networking and robust I/O in a small form factor suitable for applications that require high performance like gaming, digital signage, video surveillance and medical imaging applications.

Featuring a 1,66 GHz Intel Core Duo L2400 processor or 1,07 GHz ULV Celeron, two SODIMM sockets for up to 4 GB of 533 MHz DDR2 RAM, Intel GMA950 built-in graphics display, the ReadyBoard 830 can support CRTs, flat panels and wide screen digital TVs at resolutions of up to 2048x1536. An onboard video encoder adds TV-out capabilities such as HDTV (420p, 720p and 1080i), Component and S-Video.

The highly integrated SBC also features a broad complement of I/O including: dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, six USB 2.0 channels, AC97/HD audio, two SATA and one UDMA EIDE interfaces, Compact Flash socket, four serial ports with two supporting RS422/485 capability, eight general-purpose I/O (GPIO) pins, and a parallel port. Expansion capability includes a PCI Express Mini Card and a PCI-104 expansion bus. An optional MiniModule ISA card provides a PCI-to-ISA bridge for compatibility with hundreds of commercial PC/104 (ISA bus) I/O cards.

The 1,66 GHz dual core processor uses less than 15 W total power, while the 1,07 pGHz single processor consumes less than 5,5 W.

The ReadyBoard 830 is supported by a full range of popular embedded and desktop operating systems, including a full Linux 2.6-based distribution (derived from Ubuntu packages), Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and Windows XP Embedded.
