Low noise 1 A LDO

6 August 2008 Power Electronics / Power Management

austriamicrosystems has expanded its low dropout regulator (LDO) portfolio with the AS1364, capable of delivering up to 1 A while operating at low dropout voltages. It operates from a 2 to 5,5 V supply, making it ideal for dual or triple standard-cell and single Li-Ion battery powered applications. The device offers dropout voltage of 140 mV at 1 A with low quiescent current of 35 μA during operation and 10 nA during shutdown. It is available as an adjustable version or with pre-programmed output voltages in the range from 1,2 to 5,0 V with an output voltage accuracy of 0,75%. While the adjustable version allows flexibility in design and does not require a bypass capacitance, the pre-programmed versions offer improved noise performance through a bypass pin. The noise is therefore improved from 50 μVRMS for the adjustable version to 10 μVRMS for the pre-programmed versions.
