Fibre-coupled laser diode

31 August 2011 Opto-Electronics

Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced a new high-power, fibre-coupled laser diode. The L11610 is a single-chip device with an output power of 5 W and a centre wavelength of 915 nm. The fibre core diameter is 114 μm, with a numerical aperture (NA) of 0,2. This new laser diode adds to Hamamatsu’s current range of 1 W to 8 W devices, available at wavelengths from 808 nm to 1064 nm.

With its long lifetime characteristics, the L11610 has potential applications in the medical, materials processing and industrial fields.

Hamamatsu also offers a range of laser bar devices, supplied either as bare diodes, or provided as a module, with CW powers up to 60 W per bar and a choice of water cooling, peltier cooling or Hamamatsu’s patented funryu cooling technology. Stacked bar arrays (with up to several kW output power), fibre-optic coupling and a choice of other wavelength laser diodes are all available to specific customer request.
