Configurable data converter

6 August 2014 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

Engineers can now mix and match 20 analog-to-digital converters (ADC), 20 digital-to-analog converters (DAC) or 20 high-voltage digital I/O pins in any order using the MAX11300, the new mixed-signal PIXI technology from Maxim Integrated Products.

Designers often work with application-specific devices that are neither flexible nor easy to program. As is the industry’s first configurable 20-channel, -10 V to +10 V high-voltage mixed-signal data converter, the MAX11300 PIXI is ideally suited for complex applications requiring multiple mixed-signal operations, like base stations and industrial control and automation.

Graphical user interface software that comes with the chip enables rapid drag-and-drop configuration of the device, allowing any function to be assigned to any pin. The IC integrates a 12-bit, multichannel ADC; a 12-bit, multichannel buffered DAC; and high-voltage analog switches and digital I/Os.
