Battery-free RF field detector

The Photon from Farsens is a UHF RF field detector passive tag equipped with an LED. When in the presence of an RF field source, it harvests enough energy from the field to drive an LED. The stronger the RF field in a specific point and orientation, the brighter the LED will illuminate. Built in a PCB format, it is available in different sizes and has a detection range of up to 3 metres for UHF RFID readers.

The tag can be used to assess the status of ageing RFID implementations, where the reader and antennas may no longer perform correctly. It can also be used to signal activities to users, for instance in cases where entering a specific area may require a certain set of procedures from the user.
