Infrared LED for iris recognition

16 May 2018 Opto-Electronics

Everlight Electronics launched the NIR-C19M infrared LED, with a wavelength of 810 nm which exerts the clearest contrast effect to read the pattern of the iris. The recognition process is precise, quick and features excellent heat dissipation. This makes it suitable for iris recognition applications in security surveillance systems (access control) and portable handsets.

The LED works at a wavelength of 810 nm and uses an advanced ISP image processor together with CMOS sensor to receive the infrared reflection by the human eye to authenticate iris identification. Its optical design achieves a high reflection rate, a small angle (FOV=25) and a radiant intensity of up to 2700 mW/Sr below 1000 mA. The NIR-C19M has enhanced heat dissipation with a thermal resistance of 4,38°C/W, and it has passed IEC62471, a safety regulation to prove that no harm arises to human eyes and skin.

The NIR-C19M series adopts a moulding manufacturing process. Compared to the traditional glue dispense manufacturing process, moulding results in a smoother surface which not only enhances the look but also increases reliability. Its compact size of 3,5 x 3,5 x 2,3 mm makes it suitable for space-constrained portable devices.
