Low-power Half size CPU card for small space applications

1 March 2000 Computer/Embedded Technology

AAEON is offering a half-size Super 7-based CPU Card specifically designed for space critical and high performance LCD applications. The SBC-557 board is equipped with a VGA/LCD controller, Ethernet controller and Flash Disk socket.

Based on ALi's 1541/1543 chipset, the company says that this board is designed for those engineers who are looking for affordable Socket 7 solutions to accommodate the Pentium MMX, AMD K6-2, and K6-3 without sacrificing any performance. In addition, it supports the Intel low-power/ low-heat Mobile Pentium (Tillamook) CPUs, which means low power consumption and fanless operation of up to 60°C. The small form factor, low-cost and low power-consumption suits the SBC-557 for applications where cost, ruggedness and space are of prime concern.

The board also features:

* Acceptance of Intel Pentium MMX 166-266 MHz, AMD K6-2/K6-3 266-450 MHz, and Intel Tillamook low power CPUs.

* Built-in CRT/LCD controller with 2 MB of display memory supports simultaneous monitor and panel display.

* DiskOnChip (solid-state disk) socket supports up to 288 MB Flash disk modules.

* Dual USB ports.

* Ethernet interface.

* Equipped with watchdog timer.

* Power management system is APM 1.2 compliant.

CPU, RAM and DiskOnChip module are not included.
