New distributorships for cable and accessory company

21 September 2005 News

Webb Industries has negotiated two new and important distributorships, which it believes will help fill gaps in the local market.

In the first instance, Webb has launched a new range of high frequency connectors from new USA principal, Florida-based S.G. McGeary. The connectors include the 1,85, 2,4, 2,9, and 3,5 mm as well as the between-series adaptors. According to Webb's Fanie Viljoen, the main advantage of this range is that a frequency range from DC to 65 GHz can be covered.

"Not only do they cover this range but they have the capability of manufacturing of up to 110 GHz for special applications," he says.

Viljoen stressed that the excellent stock availability of these adaptors will be crucial to the success of the line, as local experience tends to be that of overseas suppliers often being out of stock: "With McGeary the situation is that there is always plenty of stock making reliable supply easy," he adds.

Secondly, Webb has been appointed the South African distributor for Penn Engineering Components, which specialises in the manufacture of waveguides, waveguide adaptors and terminations and flexible, twistable waveguide sections. Viljoen says that this fills an important gap in Webb's product offering in the waveguide systems market.

"These components are not only world-class quality but they will be very competitively priced," he said.

Established in California in 1971, Penn Engineering is one of the world's leaders with years of experience in the microwave field and is continually growing its product offerings to meet its customers' microwave component needs. Viljoen said that one of Penn's specialities is to, on request, target, design and test full waveguide systems.

"With its unique CNC capabilities, it has the capacity to do prototypes as well as production runs of microwave components, machined parts, flanges and castings," he said.

Webb Industries' product offering includes, coaxial cable and connectors, duplexes and filters, earthing, lightning protection as well as a comprehensive range of antennas, fencing, masts and towers.
