Actel's IGLOO FPGAs receive two awards

14 May 2008 News

Actel's 5 microwatt IGLOO field-programmable gate array (FPGA) family, said to be the lowest power programmable logic solution in the industry, has achieved double success in the 2008 Portable Design China (PDC) Power Management Survey Awards.

The product was recognised by PDC's readership as one of the industry's Top 5 Overall Best Products, joining solutions from industry leaders Freescale Semiconductor, Broadcom, Maxim and ON Semiconductor in the top five listing. The IGLOO FPGA also received a Best Product Award in the software-compatibility category. For these awards, engineers voted according to how well products met strict criteria that included power consumption, performance, functionality, price/performance, reliability, design support and availability among others.

Rick Lain, Actel's area sales director, Asia Pacific commented, "Receiving these prestigious awards is a great honour, and further validates our corporate strategy to attack power consumption at the chip level. For China's portable design community, power matters and our IGLOO FPGAs offer a very attractive combination of ultra-low power consumption, small packaging and low price."
