Based on the Symphony 24-bit DSP core, Freescale's Symphony family of audio digital signal processors (DSPs) now integrate multichannel Dolby Volume intelligent audio processing technology. This provides a solution for consistent program loudness on A/V receivers, surround sound processors, digital TVs, speaker systems and home theatre in a box (HTiB) products.
Dolby Volume brings a fundamentally different approach to delivering consistent volume levels across a wide variety of content, channel programming or input sources. Using a psychoacoustic model of human hearing, this sophisticated technology performs measurement, analysis and control of perceived volume levels. In addition to audio levelling, it continually analyses the audio and properly balances low, middle and high frequencies to maintain the nuances and impact of the programme material, regardless of playback volume.
The DSP56300 and DSP56700 processors use the Symphony 24-bit DSP core with 48-bit double precision capability and are designed to meet the demands of audio electronics system designers by integrating audio peripherals and by supporting the latest generation decoders such as Dolby, THX and DTS. A flexible software architecture allows for easy integration of differentiating audio software IP from Freescale or third parties.
