Peak power analyser

20 July 2011 Test & Measurement

Agilent Technologies’ new 8990B is a peak power analyser offering the measurement speed and accuracy required in the aerospace, defence and wireless markets. Complementing the 8990B are the new N1923A and N1924A wideband power sensors, which cover a frequency range of 50 MHz to 18 GHz and 50 MHz to 40 GHz, respectively. When combined with either sensor, the analyser achieves 5 nanosecond rise time/fall time.

Built for ease of use as well as performance, the instrument is equipped with a

15-inch XGA colour touchscreen that is capable of simultaneously displaying four channel results. Coupled with a sampling rate of 100 MSps, R&D engineers are assured the high resolution required to detect abnormalities in a signal trace for design improvement.

The 8990B comes with 15 predefined pulse parameter measurements, including rise time, pulse droop, pulse width and time delay, which can be executed automatically in two easy steps via the touchscreen. These parameters are used in the design, testing and validation of power amplifiers, TR modules, transponders, radar test sets and satellite payloads, and other test devices that require complex pulse measurement.
