High current, low-profile bridge rectifiers

International Rectifier (IR) has introduced the MTP family of high current, three-phase input bridge rectifiers. Bridge rectifiers are a necessary component for any electronic device requiring the conversion of AC to useful DC, for heavy-duty and industrial applications such as uninterruptible power supplies, motor drives and welding.

The MTP family rectifiers are housed in a low-profile (12 mm) package that is compatible with many popular mounting standards and was specifically conceived to maximise space-savings and optimise circuit layout. Output pins are double-wide (for version A, flat terminals) to decrease interconnect inductance and improve conductivity. Two terminal configurations (round or flat pins) are available to accommodate a multitude of automated- or hand-insertion printed circuit board assembly methods.

Six glass-passivated diode chips are mounted on a copper base plate for maximum thermal dissipation. Full mechanical decoupling from the terminals and large creepage distance ensures the highest reliability.

The MTP Series bridge rectifier family consists of the 40MT (45 A rating at a case temperature of 100°C), 70MT and 100MT (respectively 75 A and 100 A rating at a case temperature of 80°C). The rectifiers have an insulation voltage rating of 3500 V r.m.s., with a repetitive peak reverse voltage rating of 1400 V and 1600 V. Maximum leakage current is 5 mA at 125°C.
