Innovative silent 10 A relay

Nowadays, home appliances have become very sophisticated and offer consumers a multitude of functions. Power relays currently used in home appliance applications often generate a loud clicking noise when operated, which has been a problem in sophisticated and multifunctional home appliances. The demand for low noise power relays is increasing in these sophisticated home appliances, for instance the flat panel computer display.

Fujitsu has developed a new power relay. The FTR-H3 is an ultra silent relay with unique and patented U-shape spring from Fujitsu. It can achieve about 50 dB of sound level. Because of its uniquely shaped spring, the sound level hardly increases even when the relay is mounted on a PCB, says Fujitsu. The FTR-H3 relay has an operating temperature range of -40 to +75°C. Dimensions are 28,8 x 13,7 x 18,8 mm (LxWxH) and nominal operating power is 530 mW. It is pin-to-pin compatible with the company's FTR-VS and FTR-H1 relays.

This silent relay features an 8 mm clearance distance between coil and contacts for high-insulation resistance. It also has a surge withstand voltage of 10 000 V (min), features a 5000 V a.c. dielectric strength between coil and contacts. Expected mechanical life is 2 million operations, and electric life is 100 000 operations at rated load (10 A, 250 V a.c., cos Phi 1).

The FTR-H3 relay is constructed of lead-free materials, cadmium-free contacts and special bromine-free plastic.
