The diverse applications that use Hammond Manufacturing’s 1554 and 1555 IP68, UL listed polycarbonate and IP66 ABS enclosure families continues to expand as sub-systems and HMI units are installed in harsh environments throughout the factory floor, as local machine control and monitoring and in external locations.
The company received an increasing number of enquiries for shallower units as SMT PCBs, slimline displays, miniature switches, touchscreens and solid state relays reduce the internal volume required from the enclosure. Add in the fact that many HMI units are wall mounted, where a deeper unit will stand off unnecessarily far from the wall, and the trend towards reduced height enclosures is obvious.
To meet the needs for shallow enclosures, Hammond Manufacturing has introduced three new versions based on some of the fast-moving sizes in the ranges. Each plan size is available in ABS with plain and styled lids and polycarbonate with plain, styled, clear and smoked lids, so a total of 18 new options have been added.
