Power delivery ICs for USB Type-C

Mouser Electronics now stocks the InnoSwitch3-PD family of ICs from Power Integrations. This innovation provides engineers with a highly integrated solution for USB Type-C, USB power delivery (PD) and USB programmable power supply (PPS) adaptors for laptops, tablets, cellphones and more.

The InnoSwitch3-PD ICs incorporate a primary switch and controller, isolated feedback, secondary control and USB-PD controller functions into a single compact package. Using Power Integrations’ patented PowiGaN technology, the ICs’ real-time-telemetry power supply status and fault monitoring, combined with Power Integrations FluxLink high-speed communications feedback link, produces fast, accurate secondary-side regulation.

The devices offer low heat dissipation, eliminating the need for bulky heatsinks and reducing component counts. They are also fully protected with input voltage monitoring, accurate brown-in/brown-out protection and independently configurable output over- and under-voltage fault detection.

The InnoSwitch3-PD ICs are supported by the Power Integrations RDK-838 reference design kit, also available from Mouser Electronics. The kit features a 60 W USB PD 3.0 power supply with 3,3 V to 21 V PPS output using the onboard InnoSwitch3-PD IC.
