MT8870A for NTN NB-IoT testing

28 February 2025 Test & Measurement

Anritsu Corporation has announced that Samsung Electronics has selected the Anritsu Universal Wireless Test Set MT8870A for use on the mass-production lines of the Galaxy S25; Samsung’s next-generation smartphone that is compliant with the Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) NB-IoT standard.

Smartphones supporting NTN NB-IoT can communicate through NTN using satellites and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). This makes reliable communication services possible in areas where terrestrial networks are unavailable, including mountainous areas and areas without a wireless communication infrastructure. For the Galaxy S25 the MT8870A provides a Tx/Rx performance test environment for wireless communications standards, including NTN NB-IoT.

The MT8870A offers up to four test ports for each platform, while enabling simultaneous testing on each port. In addition to NTN NB-IoT, the MT8870A also supports 5G NR, WLAN, and Bluetooth, making it an ideal tester for use with devices that must support these standards.
