Setting a new benchmark for high-power DC load testing

31 July 2026 Test & Measurement Power Electronics / Power Management

As power-electronic systems become faster, more powerful and increasingly complex, engineers require test equipment capable of accurately reproducing demanding real-world operating conditions. The new ITECH IT8900G/L high-speed, high-power DC electronic load has been developed to meet these requirements, offering a powerful combination of speed, scalability, precision and high-power density.

Designed for research laboratories, production lines and automated test environments, the IT8900G/L series is available in voltage ranges of 150 V, 600 V and 1200 V, with standalone power ratings from 2 kW to 54 kW. Selected configurations can support currents of up to 2400 A.

One of the system’s most important advantages is its high-speed dynamic performance. The 150 V IT8900G models support dynamic operating frequencies of up to 30 kHz, allowing engineers to simulate rapid current changes and accurately evaluate the transient response, stability and protection behaviour of the device under test.

The IT8900G/L also delivers excellent low-voltage loading capability. This is particularly valuable when testing fuel cells, server power supplies, batteries and other devices that must supply high current at low operating voltages.

Multiple operating modes – including constant current, constant voltage, constant resistance and constant power – provide the flexibility required for a broad range of test applications. Dynamic testing, programmable list sequences, battery-discharge testing, automatic testing and comprehensive protection functions further improve productivity and test safety.

Built-in communication options, including LAN, USB, RS232, GPIB, CAN and analogue control, enable straightforward integration into automated production and validation systems.

Typical applications include testing of EV batteries, onboard chargers, DC charging equipment, fuel cells, server power systems, industrial power supplies, converters, inverters and other advanced power-electronic products.
