Microchip Technology’s MTCH9010 Liquid Detection Turnkey Device is a compact, low power sensing solution designed to simplify reliable liquid detection in modern electronic systems. By integrating both capacitive and conductive sensing in a single device, the MTCH9010 can accurately identify oils, fuels, water, and ionic liquids without requiring additional components or custom firmware, enabling faster system development.
The device supports straightforward digital output for basic detection tasks, while an enhanced UART interface provides real time diagnostic and monitoring data for more advanced applications. A dedicated heartbeat pin allows system level status verification, and pin configurable settings enable designers to adjust thresholds, sleep timing, sensing modes, and system lock behaviour without firmware complexity.
Ultra-low power operation, with configurable sleep currents down to 1 µA and a wake on request mode, makes the MTCH9010 well suited to battery powered and always on sensing environments. Support for both MPLAB development tools and the Zephyr RTOS ecosystem gives engineers flexibility in software integration.
Target applications include appliance leak detection, industrial liquid monitoring, IoT sensing nodes, and medical fluid management, where dependable, low power detection is critical to safety and system performance.
