The Omron E2A series of cylindrical proximity sensors is designed for use in robotics and industrial equipment. They use a modular construction which allows a large range of flexible product options and customisation, whilst the sensors’ durability provides extra long life support against the demands of daily use.
The sensors, in DC 3-wire and DC 2-wire models, enable safe mounting with a long sensing distance up to 30 mm – up to twice that of conventional Omron sensors. This helps prevent problems such as the collision of work pieces. A full range of standard sizes is available including M8, M12, M18 and M30.
Cylindrical proximity sensors use high-frequency oscillation to detect both ferrous and non-ferrous metal objects, and in capacitive models to detect non-metal objects. They also resist heat, chemicals and water better than rectangular sensors. The E2A series is IP67 and IP69k compliant for the highest protection in wet environments.
