Measurement Specialties has just released its Model 8032-01 accelerometer to production. Specifically designed for machine monitoring applications, this rugged, low-cost device features a stainless steel housing and an integral cable with moulded strain relief.
The case-isolated, internally shielded device is easily stud mounted and offers reverse wiring protection to prevent installation errors. Its ingress protection rating of IP67 encourages use in harsh environments, as does its stable response over an operating temperature range of -55°C to
+100°C. It is available in a ±50 G or ±500 G configuration, features shock limits of ±5000 G, non-linearity of ±1%, warm-up time <2 seconds and frequency response to 12 kHz.
The accelerometer uses a ceramic sensing element in compression mode and is designed for standard 2–10 mA current excitation with a compliance voltage of
18–30 V d.c. The #22 AWG leads are insulated with teflon while the flexible cable jacket is TPE. Also available are optional mounting studs, application support and special calibration alternatives.
