While working in an electrostatic protected area (EPA), ESD clothing is necessary to make sure that people do not charge the products they are working with. Actum Electronics supplies a wide range of ESD clothing products to fulfil customer’s needs, from lab coats and long- and short-sleeve polo shirts, to gloves and shoes.
The clothing is manufactured by Cleantex in either Naptex or Conductex fabric.
Naptex’s basis fabric is a polyester-cotton and conductive yarns are based on steel fibres encapsulated with cotton. Naptex clothing is approved and owing to its dissipation values, is still used by most customers after many washing cycles. The typical surface resistance is 104–105 Ω.
Conductex’s basis fabric is a polyester-cotton with proprietary carbon-based conductive yarns; the typical surface resistance is 105–106 Ω.
Also available are moulded polyurethane ESD clogs from Laja. They have a reversible rear strap and are perforated and breathable. The durable polyurethane has good oil and chemical resistance, while the pattern and friction features decrease the risk of slipping. They are available in sizes from 38/39 (SA 5/6) to 46/47 (SA 13/14).
Resistance of the shoes is below 10 MΩ (23 ±2°C and 12 ±3% RH) using a test method based on the standard IEC 61340-4-3. The shoes can be machine washed and are extremely durable.
