Mean Well has developed two series of 300 W power supplies in the 127 x 76 mm form factor for PCB-type requirements.
The RPS-300 series is designed to comply with international medical safety regulations (MOPP level) and is characterised by low leakage current ( 300 A at 264 V a.c.) making it suitable for ‘patient contact’ equipment. The EPP-300 series, the industrial-grade units, are suitable to use in IT systems and industrial machinery/electrical equipments.
Featuring built-in active power factor correction and 90–264 V a.c. full range input, the power supplies utilise an LLC topology and synchronous rectification technology. They offer up to 93% efficiency and can provide 200 W continuously up to 50°C with free air convection only (≤300 W with 20,5 CFM forced air), or operate under 70°C ambient temperature by employing power derating.
These two series are equipped with 300 V a.c. input surge immunity for 5 seconds, which can reduce the damage caused by unstable AC mains. Other standard functions include P.G./ P.F. signal output, built-in remote sense, 12 V/0,5 A auxiliary output, and protection against short circuit, overload, over-voltage and over-temperature.
The power units have built-in remote ON/OFF control and 5 V/1 A standby output to achieve no-load power consumption below 0,5 W, allowing them to be used in ‘green’ medical equipment or electric devices, and fulfil the energy-saving requirements for end systems.
