Dizzy Enterprises’ locally developed and manufactured SimPLC is a platform for developing a remote control/monitoring device, targeted at developers and hobbyists. It features GSM/GPRS communication, up to eight relays, up to eight opto-coupled inputs, a real-time calendar/clock and USB.
The design is centred around a Microchip PIC18F46J50 microcontroller pre-programmed with a fast USB bootloader. Sample code provided with the product includes examples on how to send/receive SMSs as well as detect missed calls, and can be used as a framework for users’ own projects.
The functionality of the board can easily be extended with capabilities such as Ethernet, WiFi, temperature sensing and more, by connecting any of a huge range of available add-on boards.
