Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced a new InGaAs PIN photodiode, an ultra-compact near infrared (NIR) detector available in a surface mount COB (chip on board) package.
Compared to a conventional metal packaged detector, the size of the G11777-003P is drastically reduced (package dimensions are 0,8 x 1,6 x 0,8 mm) whilst still maintaining a 0,3 mm diameter active area.
The device features a spectral response range of 0,9 to 1,7 μm with peak sensitivity at 1,55 μm and delivers high sensitivity with low noise characteristics. With a high-speed response of 500 MHz, it is ideal for optical communications, as well as general NIR measurement and light level monitoring.
