Debugging software for field use

Undo Software announced the release of UndoDB Out-and-About, a new way of licensing its high-performance reversible debugging software.

The company is a commercial supplier of Linux and Android reversible debugging tools that enable software developers to record, rewind and replay their C/C++ code to respond quickly to customer critical bugs, increase their productivity and meet their development deadlines.

Used by over 1000 developers at customers that include Cadence Design Systems and Mentor Graphics to solve complex, real-world problems, UndoDB is proven to reduce debugging time while seamlessly integrating into existing development environments.

UndoDB Out-and-About is aimed at software vendors whose software is deployed on customer sites. It licenses the full capabilities of UndoDB to be used in the field on a customer machine by the software vendor’s engineers to investigate, find and consequently fix customer-critical bugs.

The tool helps track down software failures such as intermittent issues and memory corruption errors. It is particularly useful when customers do not want to send their highly confidential, mission-critical data off-site to the vendor for them to reproduce the bug.

UndoDB Out-and-About provides exactly the same functionality as Undo Software’s flagship product, UndoDB, but is licensed for use on a machine not owned by the licensee. Deployment is straightforward, with the ability to configure it for a specific customer machine or customer site for a period of up to seven days at a time. It does not require external Internet connections or VPNs to operate.
