PSU for sign display panels

19 November 2014 Power Electronics / Power Management

New from Mean Well is a 300 W, ultra low-profile power supply for sign display panels. With a width of 81 mm and profile of 31 mm, the HSN-300 series permits lowering of the dimensions and weight of a sign panel module, lessening the manufacturing cost as well as relieving installation inconvenience.

Employing a non power factor corrected design capable of efficiencies up to 86%, the A-type model accepts 90 – 132 V a.c. while the B-type accepts 180 – 264 V a.c. The output side supplies 4,2 V and 5 V d.c., allowing the units to work with both old and new generations of sign panel driver ICs.

HSN-300 exploits a fanless design; when firmly mounted on an aluminium plate or cabinet, it can operate in temperatures between -20°C and +70°C using free air convection. Safety in use is assured thanks to UL60950-1 certification. Other product features and standard functions include conformal coating on PCB, LED indicator for power on, short circuit protection, overload protection, over-voltage protection and over-temperature protection.
