As more demanding requirements are placed on industrial applications, the need for power supplies capable of working reliably under harsh conditions keeps growing.
From Mean Well comes a 600 W power supply (HEP-600) and charger unit (HEP-600C) tailor made for these situations.
The power supply and charger achieve efficiency levels of 96% and 95,5%, respectively, and when cooled by free air convection, they can operate in ambient temperatures spanning -40°C to +70°C. Being housed in an aluminium case with an interior filled with heat conducting silicone, they can withstand high humidity, dust and vibration levels.
The units accommodate inputs covering the range of 90 – 264 V a.c. HEP-600 provides nine models with different DC voltages between 12 V and 54 V; HEP-600C, with a three-stage charging curve, provides 14,4 V, 28,8 V and 57,6 V – the three levels that lead-acid batteries often adopt as their charging voltage.
Other functions and characteristics include over-current protection (HEP-600, constant current limiting mode), short circuit protection, over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, built-in 5 V standby power, built-in remote on/off control, and no-load power consumption below 0,5 W.
Both series comply with international regulation such as UL, CUL, TUV, CB and CE. Suitable applications for HEP-600 are outdoor telecommunication equipment, signboards, billboards, and humid and dusty industrial control; whereas HEP-600C is well suited to robotic lawn mowers, electronic transportation vehicles, recreational crafts, security systems and so on.
