The PolyZen YC device series, now available from TE Connectivity, offers an integrated approach to help protect consumer electronics from damage caused by ESD (electrostatic discharge) and other electrical over-stress events that can lead to safety and warranty concerns. The new ZEN056V230A16YC and ZEN056V260A16YC combine a precision Zener diode and a resettable PolySwitch PPTC (polymer positive temperature coefficient) device in a 4,0 x 5,0 x 1,2 mm package.
A PolyZen device’s Zener diode is thermally connected to the PPTC device to enable rapid heat transfer, which in turn increases the PPTC device’s reaction time. As a result, a single hybrid PolyZen YC is able to simultaneously protect against damage from over-voltage, over-current, reverse bias, ESD and over-temperature events more effectively than solutions using multiple discrete devices.
The parts are suitable for enhancing reliability in sensitive electronics by offering up to 2,6 A hold current at room temperature.
