PSU for mounting on PCB

18 March 2015 Power Electronics / Power Management

The 5–20 Watt units in Mean Well’s IRM range of board-mounted power supplies, have been supplemented by a new 30 W model. Designed and ready to be soldered onto the printed circuit boards (PCBs) of various kinds of electronic instruments or industrial automation equipments, the IRM-30 accepts the full 85 to 264 V a.c. input range and provides a single output at 5, 12, 15, 24 or 48 V.

Well suited for designs where PCB space is limited, the PSU features high power density and a Class II design, incorporating built-in EMI filtering. It achieves efficiency levels up to 90% when operating in temperatures between -30°C and +70°C (free air convection) and no-load power consumption is below 0,1 W.

With its 94V-0 flame retardant plastic enclosure and an interior filled with heat conductive silicone, the IRM-30 withstands vibrations up to 5 G and is inherently resistant to dust and moisture. Electrical protection functions include short circuit, overload and over-voltage. This series is approved to various regulations such as UL, CUL, TUV, CB and CE, assuring safety in use.

In addition to the standard model in module form factor, it is also offered as a terminal block type under the product designation IRM-30-ST. Suitable applications include industrial electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, factory automation equipment and handheld electronics.
