RGBW colour sensor

18 March 2015 Opto-Electronics

Vishay introduced a new digital RGBW sensor, featuring Filtron technology for accurate spectral sensitivity while providing ambient light spectral sensitivity with responses close to that of the human eye. The VEML6040 incorporates photo-pin-diodes and a signal processing IC in a 2,0 x 1,25 x 1,0 mm surface-mount package while offering an I2C bus interface for simple operation. It offers 16-bit resolution for each colour channel and contains the circuitry needed for colour balancing, backlight control and colour temperature measurement. The sensor provides fluorescent light flicker immunity and consumes less than 1 µA in shutdown mode.
