As consumer electronics are getting thinner and smaller, they are becoming increasingly vulnerable to water and dust. Being able to support electronic devices with waterproof and dustproof components is just as important as footprint compatibility.
With this in mind, TE Connectivity introduced the Waterproof IP68 Micro USB Connector Type B, designed to seal the connector perimeter to prevent moisture and debris from penetrating inside the shell. With dimensions of H 3,04 mm x W 17,8 mm (with ears) x D 7,9 mm, these connectors use a metal injection moulded shell to meet the IP68 standard.
Electrical short circuits are prevented thanks to a metal reinforcement plate to protect internal contacts. Simple integration and positioning in the final application is ensured with screw mounting ears.
