Thermaltronics has added new hot air tools, infrared (IR) preheaters and an LED magnifying lamp to its range of ESD-safe soldering and related equipment.

The TMT-HA200 hot air tool can be used for surface mount component removal and reflow on components such as SOIC, CHIP, QFP, PLCC and others. It enters an auto sleep mode when the hot air tool is placed in the holder. The system features adjustable, easy to use temperature and air control knobs, and a large selection of high-quality nozzles. With 600 Watts of power, it covers a temperature range of 100°C to 480°C, and its turbine fan produces airflow up to 35 l/min.

Another hot air tool, the TMT-HA300, is designed for similar uses but employs a diaphragm pump to produce airflow up to 23 l/min.

This 500 Watt model heats to the same temperatures as the –HA200 and features similar temperature and air control capabilities and selection of nozzles. Additionally, this model has a digital display that shows temperature and status, and a meter providing visual feedback of airflow.

The TMT-PH200 preheater uses a sensor control feedback loop to control the quartz infrared preheater temperature and is suitable for leaded and lead-free preheating processes. It features a temperature control knob, digital display showing temperature. With 600 Watts of power, this tool is suitable for printed circuit boards (PCB) as large as 140 x 185 mm and operates over a 100°C to 380°C temperature range.

Supporting boards up to 270 mm in length, the higher-powered TMT-PH300 uses intelligent temperature control technology to control the infrared preheater. Three heating modes allow the unit to handle leaded and lead-free preheating processes and are suitable for use with PCBs containing BGA and SMD components. It puts out 850 Watts allowing it to reach temperatures between 50°C and 400°C, and comes with a board holder capable of three dimensional adjustments and two external temperature sensors probes.

Finally, the TMT-MG100 magnifying lamp features a simple but powerful design and is suitable for precision soldering tasks. Providing 3x and 15x magnification, the magnifying glass features an adjustable handle that rotates in 360 degrees and LED lights for energy savings.
