WIMA PowerBlock modules based on double-layer capacitors combine the advantage of conventional capacitors as fast suppliers of electricity, and batteries as notable energy reservoirs.
The modules are used for motor start, in railway technology, in hybrid and heavy transportation, in automated guided vehicles, in uninterruptible power supplies or wind power systems. Their use as energy storage increases efficiency and lifetime in these applications, saves weight and cost for maintenance, and is environmentally friendly.
Featuring very high capacitance values from 62 F to 500 F, PowerBlock modules are available with rated voltages from 16 V to 125 V d.c. and discharge current up to 1900 A. Series connected and actively balanced, they are maintenance free and come in an IP65 rated metal case.
