AC-line-rated disc capacitors

15 June 2016 Passive Components

Vishay has extended the capacitance range of its 440L series of AC-line-rated ceramic disc capacitors. Designed to provide high reliability for Class X1 (760 V a.c.) and Class Y1 (500 V a.c.) applications in accordance with IEC 60384-14, 4th edition, the Vishay Cera-Mite devices are the industry’s first to offer capacitance up to 20 nF.

With their high capacitance range, 440L series capacitors save board space in antenna coupling, line bypass, across-the-line, and RFI filtering applications for power and smart meters, lighting ballasts and consumer products. Featuring C0G, U2J, P3K, R3L, X7R and Y5U ceramic dielectrics, the devices feature tolerances down to ±10% and operate over a temperature range of -30°C to +125°C.

The new 20 nF capacitors consist of two silver-plated ceramic discs with tinned copper connection leads offering 0,81 mm diameters. 440L series devices are available with radial kinked or straight leads with spacing of 9,5 mm. RoHS-compliant, the capacitors’ encapsulation is made of flame-resistant epoxy resin in accordance with UL 94 V-0.
