The MPFIC is the newest addition to SynQor’s family of military-grade power factor correction modules.
It is a high efficiency AC-DC converter that operates from a universal single-phase AC input and generates an isolated output in a half brick package.
Used in conjunction with a hold-up capacitor, SynQor’s high efficiency DC-DC converters and AC line filter, the PFCQor will draw a nearly perfect sinusoidal current (PF > 0,99) from a single-phase AC input. This provides the design engineer with the building blocks for a complete front-end system that is designed to meet all the required Mil-STDs.
The MPFIC delivers 325 W of continuous output power, achieves 92% efficiency at full load (230 Vrms) and accepts an AC input voltage range of 85-264 Vrms (47-63 Hz/360-800 Hz). There are four versions, each available with a single DC output voltage: 12 V, 24 V, 28 V and 48 V. Multiple units can be used in parallel for higher power applications, which is accomplished by a passive droop sharing method.
The modules have a fixed switching frequency that provides for predictable EMI performance. Additional features include an internal inrush current limit, auxiliary 10 V bias supply, AC power good signal, short circuit protection, input under/over-voltage protection, over-voltage protection and thermal shutdown.
The module can operate at full power with a baseplate temperature ranging from -55°C to +100°C, and is suited for the harsh environments seen in many military/aerospace applications, especially those working to meet SWaP C2 requirements.
