The MP8771 from Monolithic Power Systems is a fully integrated, high-frequency, synchronous, rectified, step-down, switch-mode converter with internal power MOSFETs. It offers a very compact solution that achieves 10 A of continuous output current with excellent load and line regulation over a wide input range of 4,5 V to 17 V.
The device uses synchronous mode operation for higher efficiency over the output current load range. Constant-on-time control operation provides very fast transient response, easy loop design, and very tight output regulation. Full protection features include short-circuit protection, over-current protection, under-voltage protection and thermal shutdown.
The MP8771 requires a minimal number of readily available, standard, external components and is available in a space-saving QFN-16 (3 mm x 3 mm) package. Also available are the MP8772 with 12 A output current and 4,5 - 17 V input, and the MP8774 with 12 A output current and 3 - 18 V input.
