Power Electronics / Power Management
RS Components has further extended its RS Pro portfolio by introducing a family of more than 80 chassis-mount switched-mode power supplies (SMPS). The new range covers power ratings from 15 W to 1000 W and a choice of fixed, single DC outputs at 5 V, 12 V, 24 V, 36 V or 48 V. The outputs are regulated within ±10%, with ripple and noise as low as 120 mVp-p at 12 V.
The power supplies reach efficiency of more than 90% for some variants, and no-load power consumption is as low as 0,2 W, depending on the power rating. The underlying high-quality design principles also result in fast rise time, low inrush current and long hold-up time. Featuring lightweight and compact construction, in enclosed or open-frame configurations, size and weight are pared down to 99 x 82 x 30 mm and 0,23 kg for the 35 W models. The 150 W models are 159 x 97 x 30 mm and 0,48 kg.
Comprehensive safety features are built in, including hiccup-mode short-circuit protection with auto-recovery, up to 150% overload capability, and over-voltage protection for the 100 W and 150 W models. The power supplies are designed for excellent reliability with cooling by free air convection, having a broad operating temperature range and long rated lifetime. All units shipped are subjected to aging tests and come with a three-year warranty.
All RS Pro models are CE and UL approved, and feature a universal AC input allowing operation from line voltages anywhere in the world. EN55022 Class-B EMC compliance and isolation resistance up to 100 MΩ at 500 V d.c. simplify design-in to a wide variety of appliances, including medical equipment.
