Infineon Technologies’ EVAL-IGBT-1200V-TO247PLUS evaluation board has been developed to be a simple but accurate universal test platform for 1200 V IGBTs in all TO-247 package variants, i.e., standard TO-247 as well as TO-247PLUS packages with three as well as four leads.
The board allows evaluating the advantages provided by the larger lead frame area of the TO-247PLUS package as well as the performance improvement given by the Kelvin emitter connection of the TO-247PLUS 4pin package.
Two different modes of operation can be realised with this board: it can be used to investigate switching behaviour and measure IGBT and diode losses at different test conditions. It can also be used in continuous operation. From the basic phase-leg topology, it is possible to configure it as a step-down or step-up DC-DC converter.
