Otto Wireless Solutions appointed as sole distributor for Wifx Sàrl

27 February 2019 News

Otto Wireless Solutions has been appointed as the sole distributor for southern Africa for the Swiss-based LoRa gateway manufacturer, Wifx Sàrl. As an official member of the LoRa Alliance and a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of Internet connectivity solutions, Wifx Sàrl has achieved success throughout Europe with its LoRa offering, which will now be available to the South African market. The first such offering, LORIX One, is featured in this edition of Dataweek.

Says Chris Viveiros, operations director and co-founder of Otto Wireless Solutions: “Wifx Sàrl has a fantastic product offering, which fits like a glove into our product portfolio. As is our policy, being aware of several low-cost, unapproved gateways entering our market has not deterred us from adopting a responsible approach, so we have quietly but thoroughly and rigorously tested the LoRa gateway over a six month period whilst engaging with Wifx Sàrl and putting the device through the necessary ICASA Type Approval, which was awarded late last year.

“It is always critical for us to take this approach and that is why our customers can deploy equipment from us with peace of mind, knowing that the right levels of local support, product knowledge, stock and type approval are all in place. In terms of reliability and quality, we found the Wifx Sàrl products to be absolutely faultless, meeting the Swiss hallmarks of exceptional quality and reliability. We are very confident that the value for money and the ease of use which the Wifx Sàrl products offer will be well received by the South African electronics industry.”
