Class 2 DIN rail power supply

27 February 2019 Power Electronics / Power Management

The DRL100 24-1/C2 DIN rail power supply, made by TDK-Lambda, has a 24 V output and delivers 88 W of output power, and is approved to meet the requirements of US NEC (National Electric Code) Class 2 in accordance with UL1310. This makes it suitable for use in building automation and security systems requiring restrictions on the amount of available output current to avoid wiring damage, even under fault conditions. The C2 model also benefits from a Class II construction (no ground wire needed).

The unit is housed in a robust plastic case, measuring 72 mm wide, 55,6 mm deep and 91 mm high, the same depth and height profile as the 10 to 100 W models in the DRL series. All DRL models will operate from a wide range input of 85–264 V a.c. and can withstand a 300 V a.c. peak for five seconds. Off-load power consumption is less than 0,5 W and the efficiency is 90% at full load with a 230 V a.c. input.

The DRL series has a Class II (double insulated) construction, requiring no earth ground connection, and 3000 V a.c. input to output isolation. All models are convection cooled and are rated for operation in -20°C to +71°C ambient temperatures (derating applies at high temperature).

The DRL series is certified to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1 and UL 508, and is CE marked for the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS2 directives. All models meet EN55032-B conducted emissions, EN55032-A radiated emissions, EN 61000-3-2 harmonic currents and EN61000-4 immunity standards.
