Hi-Q Electronics has signed an agreement to distribute Energy Micro’s energy efficient ARM Cortex-M based EFM32 Gecko microcontrollers and EFR Draco radios in South Africa.
The 32-bit EFM32 MCU is said to be the world’s most energy friendly microcontroller and is specially suited for use in low-power and energy-sensitive applications including energy, water and gas metering, building and industrial automation, alarm and security, and portable medical/fitness equipment.
The Energy Micro portfolio offers 242 microcontrollers and soon over 60 radios for ultra low-power applications, and they are software and pin compatible in each available package.
Simplicity Studio software eases development and keeps users updated with the latest resources while also offering energy profiling to optimise energy consumption in an embedded system.
Hi-Q Electronics Field Applications Engineer, Marinus Rudman, stated: “Wireless battery operated systems are becoming more and more popular and the more juice you can squeeze from the battery the more you save on maintenance. Energy Micro offers a unique solution to increase battery life by a factor of four in embedded systems, and we are pleased to be able to offer this to our customers now.”
