ADEC 2001 Exhibition - Chairman's comment
15 August 2001

Albert Kopp, Chairman ADEC
I am relieved and at the same time ecstatic that the ADEC 2001 Show is now behind us. With tough market conditions it was not easy organising this show, and in spite of the fact that we had just a few fewer exhibitors than in previous years, by all the feedback I received, the show has been a resounding success!
Numerous exhibitors approached me during the show to express their satisfaction, especially after the relatively slow first day. General comments were that the quality of visitors at the show was the best ever. I await final numbers from Progroup, but indications are that over 3300 visitors came to our show. We are also still awaiting a list of all visitors, which will be made available to all exhibitors.
We also learnt a few lessons on stand building and laying down specifications on the outsides of stands, especially where these outside surfaces face other stands. This did cause irritation to a couple of exhibitors and will be avoided at future exhibitions.
I am also rather pleased that so many exhibitors asked me to follow up on organising future exhibitions. My feeling at this stage is that we will look at alternative venues such as Kyalami, with a view to keeping our costs down. I must once again point out that the stand charges for the ADEC show were approximately 40% below that charged by Cabling World in the adjacent hall. I will also approach the Cabling exhibitors to join us at our next exhibition, as feedback from them is that they would much rather have been in our show. Keeping in mind the rather 'frosty' conditions at this year's show, we will also be looking at a date closer to spring/summer.
I would welcome any feedback, suggestions and criticism from any of the exhibitors for us to discuss at our next ADEC committee meeting. Please e-mail us at ADEC, [email protected], www.adec.co.za
