Events
The invitation
"EBV SA invites you to attend the EBV Banquet 2001"... join us for a spectacular evening ... at a MYSTICAL and MYSTERIOUS location."
The venue
"TOP SECRET ... your journey begins at the EBV Stand - ADEC, 6 pm."
Who knew what to expect. An invitation to places unknown?
Norman ... and friends ...
At the EBV stand, replete with ostentatious gleaming Audi TT coupe centrepiece, the huge group of guests milled, wondering where the evening was to take them.
While sipping champagne we were welcomed by Steve Ferraris, the man responsible for the organisation of this congregation, and Steve Stafford, Managing Director of EBV- Electrolink.
Wanted: Steve Ferraris - for organising "The Party of the Millennium" at the Pyramid!
And the journey began. Guests were ushered onto two double-decker party buses, complete with disco, DJ, bar, barman, and ... um ... drinks, ... And we rolled onto the highway to the reverberations of Steppenwolf's 'Born to be Wild' - which predictably brought out the party animals!
The first party bus arriveth!
Well, the drive took a fair time - but we did not expect quite as far as Egypt - so imagine the surprise when, on entering Johannesburg's dark and dangerous South, we disembarked in front of a stunning sandstone pyramid - complete with palm trees, Sphinx, et al!
Norman Ballard of Motorola SPS, which along with Intersil and Fujitsu helped sponsor the function
This was the famed Pyramid, and inside was indeed 'mysterious and mystical'.
Another sponsor was Fujitsu Microelectronics. Out from the UK was Fujitsu's Andy Thompson, Distribution Sales Manager
Once all were seated, Steve Stafford gave his welcome and said that the EBV Banquet was in celebration of EBV's past successes and future partnerships. He thanked principals Fujitsu, Intersil, and Motorola for their generous assistance with sponsorship of the event.
Steve Stafford, EBV-Electrolink MD welcomes guests
After the terrific meal, brief speeches, and prizes, the amazing Magic Man showed he had a few tricks up his sleeve(s). And EBV's Party in the Pyramid rocked on ...
Magic Man showed the guests a trick or two, or three ...
