Each year the Department of Trade and Industry, the Department of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology and the Engineering Association of South Africa sponsor joint President's Awards for Export Achievement and the Technology Top 100 Awards.

President Thabo Mbeki, Trade and Industry Minister Alec Erwin, and Arts, Culture, Science and Technology Minister Ben Ngubane attended the ceremony and handed out the award certificates and trophies.

For the first time this year, the Technology Top 100 Awards were divided into two sections, the first included companies that employ less than 150 people (known as SMEs) and the second group characterised by larger companies that employ over 150. Parsec is associated with its larger counterpart in the awards ceremony proceedings, namely Allied Technologies (Altech), the winner of the Technology Top 100 Minister's Award for Technological Excellence.

Parsec alliance partner Azisa won two awards - the category award for Export Achievement in the Information and Communications Technology sector, as well as the SA Engineering Association's Productivity Award.

'Best of the best' - is how the Sunday Times described Parsec for winning the overall SME award.

"This is a great honour for Parsec and a reflection of the dedication, hard work and commitment of all Parsec employees in the last few years," said Petrus Pelser, CEO of Parsec. "Congratulations to all present and past Parsec employees! This is your award - well done and thank you!"
