FireWire storage device packs 1 Gig in a keychain

27 February 2002 News

Webetech's FireWire Keychain is claimed to be the industry's first portable nonvolatile storage device with no moving parts, that packs up to 1 GB in a tiny, rugged enclosure. Using CompactFlash modules, it may be slipped onto a keychain to provide plenty of storage for critical files and personal data. The FireWire Keychain has an interface that allows real world read/transfer rates of up to 5 MBps, with burst rates to 400 Mbps, depending on the type of storage module installed, the computer and the operating system. Because of its FireWire interface, it is powered by the host port, and can be attached to virtually any personal computer.
