Spescom MeasureGraph welcomes Inet Technologies partnership

10 April 2002 News

Spescom MeasureGraph recently hosted a new business partner in the person of Tom LaHoda, vice president of Worldwide Diagnostics Sales, for Inet Technologies, out of Richardson, Texas, USA. LaHoda's visit consolidates the partnership agreement that was signed with Spescom MeasureGraph's Communications Test Division early this year.

NASDAQ-listed Inet with primary offices in Dallas, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Tokyo and satellite offices worldwide, had been looking for a partner for its diagnostic product line in South Africa for the past six months. Spescom seemed to fit the bill and LaHoda said he is particularly impressed with Spescom's focus, professionalism and its strong relationships within the telecoms sector in SA.

"Spescom came across as a talented company, both in the managerial as well as on the technical side of the business. Inet's strategy into primary target markets is to leverage established, technically competent, successful channel distribution partners. We place full reliance on our partners' sales efforts and we do everything possible in support of this," said LaHoda.

"I was pleasantly surprised by the size and capability of Spescom. Very seldom in a large organisation like Spescom does one find the built-in capacity of a target market specialist with a dedicated sales team already in place. Each business unit has the execution capability that is technically required. That is impressive," LaHoda elaborated. "We think of this as a very meaningful and open partnership and certainly expect a high degree of ongoing dialogue."

Commenting on new trends in the industry, he said: "Inet is one of the premier providers of diagnostic equipment in the Voice over IP market. The release of Spectra 2 nine months ago into a very appreciative market is evidence thereof. Naturally, the convergence of voice and data using IP protocol transport is a growing market."

Inet is also considered to be a worldwide expert for SS7, and boasts 450 decodes in its libraries worldwide.

What of new releases? LaHoda would not be drawn, saying that Inet will only comment on a new product once it is released. It feels that this policy to date has brought them strong credibility within the telecom industry. In conclusion LaHoda said, "I have high expectations of Spescom, Rob Beckwith and his team. Together we are committed to making this a very successful long-term partnership."
