Motorola Support Centre opens doors to Middle East, Africa

The Motorola Support Centre has extended its services to Africa and the Middle East.
Based in Midrand, the centre is ISO 9000-certified and provides support for the entire Motorola CGISS range of products - from simple conventional systems to digital trunked systems - offering pre-sales services, integration, installation, commissioning and maintenance.
"We work closely with Motorola distributors and dealers to ensure users get the pre and post-sales service and support they require - no matter where in the Middle East or Africa they are based," says Archie Clack, service operations manager for the Motorola Support Centre.
In addition to systems support, the centre repairs all Motorola subscriber radio equipment down to component level. "We have a good stock of spares, as well as the tools and trained technicians to complete repairs for all subscribers. Users can also send us their boards for repair, which in many cases substantially reduces the duties paid when shipping us radios, as they only have to send the component - not the whole radio," notes Clack.
While many users have traditionally maintained their systems in-house, the increasing sophistication of the equipment and rapid advancement of technology has made this more difficult, resulting in a trend towards outsourcing repairs.
Comprehensive product training, including subscriber programming, first-line maintenance and high-site installation is also offered by the Support Centre. "We have a fully-equipped training centre in Midrand and can conduct training at customer premises anywhere in the MEA region. Courses can be customised to suit particular needs," he adds. The centre also forms part of an official training programme for Wits Technikon students, providing them with practical training in line with the requirements of their qualifications.
"The Motorola Support Centre is cost-competitive, because we operate from South Africa and not Europe or the United States. We also understand the local markets, offer expertise on the full range of Motorola CGISS products and can draw on a broad skills base," he concludes.
