Knowledge-base and communications tool

23 April 2003 News

You-Asked.com recently launched a new Internet-based knowledge base and communications tool. The system allows organisations to build up a base of intellectual capital, creating a pool of common information. This can be accessed by clients and staff from anywhere, at any time. By building up such a database one eliminates repetition of frequently asked questions, says You-Asked.com.

Said to be a powerful Web tool which can be linked to an existing Web page, the system allows interaction between users. Pre-defined categories chosen by the organisation allows its clients quick and easy access to the answers they are looking for. If the full text search facility does not find any suitable results within the database, the administrator of the chosen category is notified via e-mail. The administrator can then answer the question, which triggers an e-mail to the client with the answer. The question and answer are then stored in the database for future use.

The system helps ensure that intellectual capital is retained within the organisation. Existing telephonic help desks can be enhanced, or replaced by the use of the You-Asked.com system. This allows faster response times, and ensures that all data is stored for future reference, says the group.
