Growth continues for high performance analog

28 July 2004 News

Databeans has released a study on high-speed linear ICs and estimates that high speed analog revenue at $8,2 bn in 2003. High performance analog products are high-speed, high resolution, and highly efficient.

Examples include high-speed LVDS interface, high resolution, application-specific mixed-signal used in base stations, highly-efficient Class D audio power amplifiers used in consumer electronics, and efficient switching regulator ICs.

High-speed linear products, which constitute a sub segment of the high performance analog market, include high-speed mixed-signal converters, high-speed interface, and high-speed amplifiers. Combined, Databeans estimates that these products constitute 23% of the total high performance analog market.

In 2003, high-speed linear sales were up 32,7% over the previous year, and the high speed linear market is experiencing even stronger demand this year. Databeans expects sales to increase by over 33% for 2004. Longer term, the market for high speed linear should continue to advance with an average annual growth rate of 16% through 2009.
